About the Event
Food systems seem to be changing. Among other disruptions, alternative proteins have seen growing consumer interest in recent years. But do these trends have the potential to sustainably transform and address challenges in the environment and within our own diets? What does this mean for financial institutions in Asia?
Agriculture is the leading cause of global deforestation and food systems account for about one third of anthropogenic global greenhouse gas emissions. In consideration of social aspects, there are issues such as labour exploitation, food safety and security to be addressed along our food production and supply chains. The need to transition to more sustainable agriculture is particularly pressing in Asia - a region especially vulnerable to natural disaster impacts, exacerbated by climate change and with significant risks of future food shortages. Financial institutions have a crucial role to play in addressing these risks and building a global food system that operates within both the planetary boundaries and provides our populations with healthy food.
Join us for our session and hear from our esteemed speakers from:
- The latest SASB Standards on food and beverages including alternative products
- Key findings from Coller FAIRR's Protein Producer Index 2021 with a focus on Asia and what this means for financial institutions
- ESG considerations and safeguards investors such as Big Idea Ventures are putting into place when considering supporting alternative protein ventures
This session includes two short presentations and a panel discussion.
